The primary goal of the Béla Dornyay Museum is to be the guardian and mediator of the scientific, cultural and artistic heritage of Salgótarján and Nógrád counties. The task of our museum is to search for, collect, scientifically process and present the historical, archaeological and ethnographic monuments found in our city and county. Increase the objects and legacies of persons and institutions that played a significant role in the history, culture and economic life of the county, with particular regard to the economic and social history of the Nógrád industrial basin. Its defining task is also to collect modern and contemporary works of art and preserve them as part of the national cultural treasure. Another important goal of ours is to be able to pass on the acquired knowledge to the younger generation, all in such a way that it is interesting, inspiring and usable for them, so we try to organize museum pedagogic programs that can be enjoyable for all students from kindergarten to high school age.
